MOVIE ANIMAL TRAINER TO SHOW HOW HE DOES IT AT THIS YEARS FAIR
The Central Washington State Fair will feature one of the major stars of the hit movie “The Legend of Zorro”. No, it’s not Antonio Banderas or Catherine Zeta-Jones…but Pelone, the black stallion that starred in the movie.
Ellensburg animal trainer Bill Lawrence has developed a nice career as an animal trainer for movies and television shows, and his famous horse Pelone, has appeared in several major movies.
Lawrence will be showing how he trained Pelone, as well as a younger horse, how to make all of the moves wanted by the directors of the shows. His shows will be at 12 noon and 3 p.m on the weekends and at 3 p.m. on weekdays during the 10-day Fair. The shows will be at the round pen, next to the Young Life Barbecue Beef booth, and are free to all fairgoers.
Called “liberty work”, Lawrence trains his animals via hand signals so that he does not appear on camera. He will show how he worked with Pelone in the different movies in which he has appeared.
Lawrence has been doing animal training for Hollywood since the early 1990’s and has been fully credited in films and television for eight years.
The Central Washington State Fair begins Friday runs through October 4 in Yakima.
