RAINBOWS ARRIVE UNDER BRIGHT SUN (DOME)
Over 600 Rainbow Girls and their advisors will be pouring into Yakima and taking over the Yakima Valley SunDome later this week. The convention of girls, aged 11 to 20, will take place Wednesday through Sunday, July 8-12 at the SunDome.
The group coming to Yakima is made up of girls from all over Washington and Idaho who will be here to learn more about leadership, confidence and citizenship through workshops and fun events.
The Rainbow Girls have been coming to the SunDome since 2002 and officials of the SunDome and State Fair Park are glad that they have again chosen Yakima as the site for their annual convention.
“They are a great bunch of young ladies,” said SunDome manager Greg Lybeck. “We always look forward to their event here.”
The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, or Rainbow Girls, is a service organization for young women, which promotes values, teaches communication and leadership skills, encourages cooperation and improves communities through service while forming lasting friendships.
While they are here, the girls and their advisors will be staying at the Red Lion and Howard Johnson motels.
