FIRST SUNDOME MANAGER BOB GLASGOW PASSES AWAY
Bob Glasgow, the first manager of the Yakima Valley SunDome, passed away last week in Billings, Montana. Glasgow, who was 88, managed the SunDome from 1989 through 1992 and was instrumental in getting the building ready and occupied when it opened in January of 1990.
“Bob was instrumental in establishing many of the policies, guidelines and some innovative ideas that we still have in place today,” said Central Washington Fair President Greg Stewart.
Before coming to the SunDome, Glasgow was the manager of the Yellowstone Exhibition and MetraPark, a large multi-use building in Billings, for 19 years.
After he left his managing duties at the SunDome, Glasgow returned to Billings, but came back to Yakima often, a couple times as interim manager of the SunDome while a permanent manager was recruited.
“He considered Yakima his second home,” Stewart said of Glasgow. “He had many friends here.”
Bob was one of my mentors and I was fortunate to work along side him for a number of years.”
